Allegations Against Vice President

The editor of the Palaver newspaper Joojo Bruce Quansah says he stands by his papers story that the Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama’s construction firm undertook shoddy jobs and left some unfinished in the Upper East Region.

In an interview with JOYFM on a publication carried in today’s issue of the paper, he noted that he still stands by the publication and challenged Ghanaians to go and inspect the projects and asses whether they were properly done or not. The paper cited specific instances like the Bolgatanga Lorry Park, a road project at Zegbele and the construction of a hostel for the University of Development Studies under an African Development Bank loan.

The story also noted that the Vice President collected the monies for these projects even though they were uncompleted or shoddily done and that these monies form part of the 41 trillion Cedi debt which his government is currently making so much noise.

The Vice president’s media adviser Andrews Awuni in a reaction has however debunked the story, describing it as one aimed only at tarnishing the image of the Vice President.

According to him, the projects cited by the palaver were certified as satisfactorily done by the consultants. But in a rebuttal, Mr. Bruce Quansah, dared Ghanaians to visit the project sites to ascertain whether they were satisfactorily executed.
