Akuoko Sarpong off to Swaziland

Accra, May 23, GNA - The Executive Chairman of the Ghana National Commission of Culture left Accra on Tuesday for Swaziland to attend a two-day conference on constitutionalism in that country.

The Conference is being sponsored and organised by the Swaziland Council of Churches and the National Democratic Institute under the theme "Harmonisation Between the Roles of Traditional Authorities and Elected Governing Bodies Within the Constitution."

Nana Akuoko Sarpong told newsmen before his departure that Swaziland wants to learn from Ghana's success in combining traditional administration in the new democratic dispensation. He said he would be a consultant at the conference and also help to draft a new constitution for Swaziland.

Nana Akuoko Sarpong said he would deliver a paper on constitutional development in Africa giving an insight of Ghana's experience. Nana Akuoko Sarpong was among experts, who took part in an international round table conference on democratic constitutional development in South Africa that prepared the new constitution of that country.
