Flagbearer of opposition New Patriotic Party, Nana Akufo-Addo has reiterated the party’s commitment to make science and technology the centerpiece of Ghana’s educational system.

He is hopeful this will rapidly transform Ghana’s economy and society in general.

Nana Akufo-Addo said this in his epistle to congratulate a 13-year-old Simon-Peter. The Ghanaian was invited by US President, Barack Obama, to participate, as one of the top science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) students from across the USA, in this year’s White House Science Fair, April 13.

“Science and Technology must be the centrepiece of the educational system of our country, if we are to make the rapid transformation of our society and economy, that would bring prosperity to the mass of our people,” the NPP presidential candidate said.

Simon-Peter and his school mates are being commended for building a prosthetic leg that allows amputees to hike, manage uneven terrain, and even skateboard.

“You are an excellent example to the youth of Ghana, your Motherland,” Akufo-Addo extolled him.

He however reminded him to have at the back of his mind that “you are a Ghanaian”.
