Akatsi-North MP Nortsu-Kotoe launches campaign

Mr Peter Nortsu-Kotoe, Akatsi North Member of Parliament (MP) has asked his constituents to ignore the vilifications against him by his opponents and vote for him in the pending National Democratic Congress parliamentary primary.

He said claims by his opponents and their followers that he and the District Chief Executive DCE of the area, Mr James Gunu embezzled funds given them by Government for some road constructions works are false.

Mr Nortsu-Kotoe was speaking at the launch of his campaigns for the pending primary to represent the Party in the 2016 elections at the weekend at Ave-Dakpa.

The MP said all other claims including one that he and the DCE sold the Assembly’s grader and pocketed the proceeds are also unfounded.

He said funds for roads were never paid to any individual apart from the contracting firm, adding the said grader is under at repairs at Akatsi.

The MP, listed the ongoing facelift works at Ave Senior School, educational supports and school projects as among the many projects he had initiated within the past three years.

He said what the young constituency needs most is unity and hard work to catch up with other areas.

Mr Nortsu-Kotoe asked his opponents to review the focus of their messages to serious developmental issues.

Dr James Avedzi, MP for Ketu North, Bernard Ahiafor, MP, Akatsi South, Juliana Azuma Mensah, MP for Agotime-Ziope and Minister of Tourism, Mr Joseph Amenowode, MP for Afadjato-South and a former Volta Regional Minister took turns to speak in support of Mr Nortsu-Kortoe, as the most credible of the all the candidates.

Mr Gunu, entreated the people elect a team player, capable of collaborating with the District Assembly to facilitate unity and development.

A large crowd of all shades of people, including chiefs and queens attended the launch, which was characterised by drumming and dancing and a float.

Dr Stephen Torkpo, an Agriculturist and Dr Donald Agumenu an Economist are contesting the incumbent.
