AgonaAssembly is constructing new market.

The Agona District Assembly is constructing a modern market at Swedru at a cost of 450 million cedis to replace the old one. Mr Samuel Adu Yeboah, district chief executive for Agona, who announced thisat a meeting with contractors and Urban three ( Zone IV) consultants at AgonaSwedru at the weekend, said it is being financed with the district assembly'scommon fund. He said half of the estimated cost of the project has been paid to the contractors to enable them to complete the project on schedule, adding that fundswould be mobilised to pay the rest.. Mr Yeboah said 96 of the stalls have been roofed , while workon the stores will soon be started adding that the market is the mainsource of revenue to the assembly. Ms Judith Kwawukume, a consultant of the Urban three ( Zone IV) commended the assembly for putting up the modern market in spite of the huge debts it owes contractors .
