The agent of Ghana midfielder Afriyie Acquah has scornfully reacted to publications his client has separated with his wife Amanda.

Italy-based FIFA licensed player representative Oliver Arthur says the report is vicious and a calculated attempt to destabilize the Torino star.

Arthur is shocked how some journalists are quick to predict doom for the battling midfielder who has worked his socks off for club and country.

An unverified report attributed to Sunyani-based radio station Sun City FM has been circulating on social media claiming the divorce rights have been performed by Acquah’s family.

“This is outrageous and truly very unprofessional by some of these journalists,” Arthur told GHANASoccernet.com.

“Acquah has been very professional and stayed focus on the pitch. He had two big performances against Mauritius and ready to replicate that form at club.

"But this publication is a low blow and a fabrication and it is as if some persons are waiting for this marriage to come on the rocks."

He added: “He is a public figure and a national team player but I want Ghanaian journalists to respect the player’s privacy and should not create the impression they want his downfall;

Acquah left Accra on Monday and has rejoined his Serie A club to prepare for this weekend’s big clash against Inter Milan.

The 23-year-old has made 25 appearances for Torino this term and scored one goal.
