Access Bank expands operations in Ashanti Region

Access Bank has launched its “Market Storm”, programme in Kumasi to encourage savings culture amongst traders in the Ashanti Region.

The project, targeting small and medium-scale enterprises, is tailored to sensitize and encourage traders to save with the bank, giving them access to acquire credit facilities to expand their businesses for economic growth.

Mr. Richard Torku, Ashanti Regional Manager of the Bank, said the initiative fell within the strategic business plan of the Bank to enhance its operations in the Region.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on the sidelines, he said it was being piloted at Suame, Adum, Asafo, Amakom and Alabar suburbs in Kumasi, where the Bank had established strong presence.

The Market Storm programme, he said, was held every Wednesday and the Bank used the occasion to set up mobile banking units at market centres to brief prospective customers on the bank’s operations, products and policies.

Mr. Torku said the Bank, voted the 2013 Best Bank of the Year in Corporate Social Responsibility Category, believed in bringing its services to the doorsteps of people.

It had so far established five branches in the Region with plans to open two more next year.

Mr. Torku indicated that the Bank had introduced a programme dubbed “Change Your Level” promotion, to award loyal clients with various prizes, ranging from flat screen television sets, smart phones, rechargeable lamps and fans, and holidays abroad packages.

Participants, he said, are expected to deposit GH¢200.00 into new or existing accounts or maintain at least GH¢500.00 during the promotion period to stand the chance of winning.
