862 women benefit from HIPC fund

An amount of 431 million cedis from the HIPC fund has been disbursed to 862 women engaged in cultivation of soya-bean in the Yendi District.

Each of them received 500,000 cedis to be repaid within 18 months.

Mr Mohammud Habibu Tijani, Yendi District Chief Executive, said this when he met the women at Yendi.

He said the assembly received 500 million cedis as part of its share of the HIPC fund.

The money would be used to finance basic education, primary health care, environment and community water and sanitation.

Mr Tijani said the assembly was constructing three classroom blocks and providing furniture for schools at Gbingbaliga, Madzeri, Zakpalsi and Gnani.

He said under water and sanitation programme, Montido, Maliya, Kpaligagbini, Nakpali and Jilimah would be provided with boreholes and toilets to be constructed at Sina, Paliashina and the Yendi Government Hospital.

The DCE said under the primary health care, staff quarters would be constructed at Kuni and Dabogni for community health workers.

The assembly would also purchase three moveable refuse containers for lorry stations to improve sanitation in the district.
