80 Physical Instructors Upgrade Skills

Dodowa (G/A) Aug 19, - A five-day residential course for 80 physical education teachers from second cycle schools in the Greater Accra began at Dodowa today. The course is to up-grade the participants' knowledge in coaching and officiating for regional and national sports programmes in soccer, volleyball, handball and athletics. Mrs Rose Ankrah, Dangbe West district director of education, opened the festival, sponsored by the Ghana Education Service (GES). Mrs Ankrah stressed the importance of sports and games and said they are very vital in the life of every human being. She urged the youth to take interest in sports because it can earn them a living. It is not only through academic work that one can earn a living. Extra-curricula activities can also give one a vocation, she added. Mrs Belinda Prime-Agbodjan, Greater Accra regional physical education organizer, hoped that the course would be beneficial to the participants and achieve its objectives of making them referees and umpires.
