3rd Iran-Ghana joint economic commission

...kicks off in Tehran

TEHRAN -- The third Iran-Ghana joint economic cooperation commission kicked off here on Tuesday.

Ghana Minister of Foreign Affairs Akwasi Asei-Adjei in the opening ceremony of this commission stated, “Ghana is a perfect place for investment and can pose as a gateway for Iranian investment in West Africa.”

He noted that bilateral cooperation between the two countries is not currently at a satisfactory level and hoped that in the Tehran gathering both sides would forward constructive suggestions in order to improve this state.

“Many of the agreements in oil and gas, agriculture, banking, health, science, technology, transportation, and investment fields in our second gathering in 2002 have not yet been carried out, and we hope that the problems will be resolved in this gathering,” Ghanaian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration, and the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) added.

“We also hope that in this gathering both side will accede regarding the proposed joint cooperation in shipping and national broadcasting fields,” he said.

He thanked Iran for its efforts in agriculture, education, and health fields in Ghana and hoped that the Islamic Republic of Iran will continue these aids.

This gathering is held from May 20 to May 23
