300 million-cedi new residence for bishop opened

Mampong (Ash), May 5, GNA - A 300 million-cedi house built at Daaho, near Mampong, for the bishop of Saint Paul's Catholic Cathedral at Asante-Mampong was officially opened at a special mass last Monday.

The building, which was supervised by the Catholic Diocese of Konongo-Mampong, comprises nine bedrooms, two living rooms and accessories.

It was jointly financed by Propaganda Fide in Rome, Rottenberg Stuggart of Germany, Jesus, Mary, Joseph (JMJ), Rome and the Archdiocese of Koln, Germany.

The Bishop of the diocese, the Right Reverend Joseph Osei-Bonsu, in his sermon, urged Christians to engage themselves in viable vocations to be able to contribute their quota towards the sustenance of the church's developmental drive. He admonished them to strike a delicate balance between their physical and spiritual concerns to attain salvation.

Bishop Osei-Bonsu commended the Mamponghene, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, and his elders for releasing land for the church's projects. The Reverend Cosmos Osei-Amponsah, the Cathedral Administrator, lauded the church members for their communal spirit and urged them to keep it up.

The Mamponghene, who presided over the function, later cut the tape to declare the building officially open.
