Woman charged with causing harm

Accra (Greater Accra) 15 July,

A woman who nearly bit off the lower lip of a co-tenant has appeared before an Accra Circuit tribunal charged with causing harm. Twenty-five-year-old Elizabeth Ankamah pleaded not guilty and was granted four million cedis bail to reappear on July 27. Police Inspector Paul K. Frimpong told the tribunal chaired by Mrs. Owusu Arhin that Elizabeth, a fish monger, lives in the same house with the complainant, Madam Lily Djannie, at La in Accra and that they were not in speaking terms. According to the prosecution, on the morning of June 22, this year, while Lily was playing with her child, Elizabeth took offence from the jokes Lily was sharing with her child. This brought about exchange of words and Lily was advised to go to her room which she did. The prosecution said Elizabeth chased Lily to her room to initiate a fight during which Elizabeth nearly bit off Lily's lower lip, resulting in Lily being rushed to the Korle Bu Teaching hospital following profuse bleeding. gri
