15 million workshop for JSS

The chiefs and people of Anfoega Traditional Area in the Volta Region are constructing workshops for five junior secondary schools in the traditional area through self- help. The projects which are estimated to cost about 15 million cedis are being funded through fund-raising activities and special levies which started last year and have yielded about 3 million cedis.

This was disclosed to the Graphic during the fund-raising durbar held at Anfoega Bume during the just-ended Easter by Mr Peter Hayibor, the General Secretary of the Dzadikumanenyo, the grassroots organisation evolved by the chiefs and people to co-ordinate socio-development activities of the traditional area. All the five junior secondary schools, namely Bume. Dzana, Wadamexe, Anfoega and Azigbe E.P. have been supplied with 33 bags of cement each for moulding blocks.

The people in the 10 communities within the traditional area are also to provide sand and stones while the brick and the carpentry work is to be undertaken by the artisans in the area. The foundation stone of the Bume JSS Workshop was laid by Mr Kwasi Aboagye, Volta Regional Deputy Minister during fund-raising durbar which yielded 1.2 million cedis.
