Do not misuse NFED motorbikes-Director

Assin Foso (C/R) July 11, GNA- Mr George Bentil Deputy Director of the Central Region Non-Formal Education Division (NFED) over the weekend warned that any motorbike of the Division found outside its zonal area of operation would be seized by the management and the rider sanctioned. Addressing the monthly Central Regional management meeting of the NFED at Assin Foso, Mr Bentil said the step was part of the disciplinary procedure designed to ensure the proper use of resources and also to avoid accidents, some of which had claimed the life of staff members.

Mr Bentil said the on-going re-organisation of the NFED demands hard work, sacrifice and commitment to the new vision of the NFED and hoped the staff would measure up to the task.

He commended the district assemblies for constructing an office accommodation for the NFED and appealed to other organisations to emulate them, since the goal of the NFED to reduce the level of illiteracy in the country dovetails into that of the assemblies. The District Chief Executive, Mr Karikari Apau, in a speech read for him said the assembly was putting up a two-large-room office accommodation for the NFED to facilitate the work of the staff and appealed to the NFED management to complement it with the supply of the necessary equipment to enable it to fulfil its objective.

Mr Joseph Ebenezer Enninful, Central Regional Co-ordinator of the division said such monthly meetings, which are on rotational basis are designed to enable the staff to discuss and plan new strategies to meet the challenges of the time.

Mr James Wilberforce Biney, the District Co-ordinator said the grounding of the old pick-up allocated to the district had adversely affected distribution and carting of literacy materials and equipment and appealed to management to consider the district in the allocation of vehicles in view of the large size of the area.

Mr Isaac Owusu, Assin District electoral officer, who chaired the function commended agencies like the World Vision Ghana, the district assemblies and the Ghana Education service for supporting the NFED in its work.
