Forikrom (B/A), Jan. 31 GNA - Techiman Municipal Assembly is to assist the people of Forikrom to benefit from a 1.2 billion cedis small pipe water system under the World Bank sponsored programme on Community Water and Sanitation project.

The Assembly and the community will pay 100 million cedis each as counterpart fund whilst the World Bank is to support with one billion cedis. Mr. Krobea Asante, chairman of the unit committee at Forikrom launched the programme at a meeting organized by chiefs, unit committee, Assemblyman and the people.

He said the community would meet the counterpart fund through voluntary contributions of 25,000 cedis by each citizen aged 18 years and a community harvest.

The unit committee chairman called on non-resident citizens to donate generously towards the counterpart share for the early completion of the project.

Mr. James Kwabena Osei, Assembly Member, appealed to the people to support the project to relieve the area from its perennial water problem

by paying their contributions promptly. He called for hard work, unity and co-operation among the people to

move the area and municipality forward in development. Mr. David Tontrong, Municipal Water and Sanitation Team Leader charged the people to count themselves lucky for getting the facility.
