NDC National Youth Organiser elected Parliamentary candidate

Tamale, Dec 31, GNA- Mr Iddrisu Haruna, 33, the National Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was on Wednesday elected unopposed as the Gukpegu/Sabongida Parliamentary candidate for the 2004 general election.

Mr Haruna, a legal practitioner, holds a Masters degree in Philosophy and Sociology. He has also authored a book entitled: " Zero tolerance - Public sector corruption."

He expressed his gratitude to the leadership and supporters of the party for electing him and assured them that he would not fail them in the discharge of his duties.

Mr Haruna expressed confidence that the NDC would win the 2004 Presidential and Parliamentary elections "hands down", saying that the people are now fed up with the Kufuor administration, which "lacks vision and direction".

He appealed to NDC supporters to be disciplined, well organised and avoid any confrontation with their political opponents in their campaign for the 2004 general election.

Alhaji Haruna Ariff, the Deputy National Organiser, alleged that some officials of the government who are preaching zero tolerance for corruption "are now acquiring wealth right, left and centre while disregarding the welfare of the people".

Alhaji Hamidu Iddrisu, the Gukpegu/Sabongida constituency chairman appealed to supporters of the party to contribute their "widow's mite" to ensure victory for the NDC in the 2004 polls.
