Society donates to Barekese health centre

Barekese (Ash), Sept 30, GNA- The rural population have been advised to refrain from self-medication and report to the health facilities for treatment when they fall sick.

Madam Rose Sarfo, Medical Assistant at the Barekese Health Centre, said the situation where people buy drugs not on prescription and take them in wrong doses could prove dangerous.

This, she said, could lead to withdrawal syndrome and also make them become resistant to the abused drugs.

Madam Sarfo was receiving two rechargeable lamps donated to the centre by the Barekese 'Nkosuo Kuo', a benevolent society of non-citizens resident at Barekese in the Atwima District on Monday. She commended the society for the donation, saying, it would enable the centre to attend to emergencies during power outages in the night. Mr S.G. Mensah, Vice Chairman of the society, said it is their aim to contribute to the enhancement of the facility.
