Chief of Adoagyiri launches 5-year dev´t plan

The chiefs and people of Adoagyiri near Nsawam in the Eastern Region have launched a five-year development plan under the Adoagyiri Educational Fund.

The plan is to construct projects such as a community centre, information communication technology (ICT) centre, a library and a vocational institution at Adoagyiri in the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipality.

Okoo Andwo Nana Afutu Dompreh II, Chief of Adoagyiri made this known in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at a durbar to climax their annual Odwira Festival.

He said the Adoagyiri Educational Fund was launched last year to cater for the education of brilliant but needy youth in the area.

Nana Dompreh said the projects would be supported with donations from citizens of the town, philanthropists and non-governmental organizations.

He called on parents and guardians of Adoagyiri and its environs to stop engaging their children in early trading, but to concentrate on educating them.

He urged parents to invest in their children's education.

Nana Dompreh said: “Without proper educational foundation for our children they would be found wanting in future and our economic growth will be meaningless.”

Nana Osae Ankah IV, Chief of Sakyikrom who chaired the function asked the youth to take their education serious so as to grow to become prominent personalities to propel the country.

He donated GH¢ 50,000 towards the Adoagyiri Educational Fund.

Mr. Frank Annoh Dompreh the Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri pledged GH¢ 100,000 from his Common Fund to support the projects, whilst Mr. Ben Ohene Ayeh, Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipal Chief Executives promised GH¢ 60.000.
