Birim South District Assembly fails to hit revenue target

Akim Oda, July 31, GNA- The Birim South District Assembly collected 229 million cedis revenue out of the projected 540.6 million cedis representing a short fall of 57 percent from January to March. The District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Yaw Amprofi, who was addressing the assembly's second general meeting, said the figure also fell short by 29 percent of that of last year, which amounted to 296.9 million cedis.

He appealed to the assembly members to assist revenue collectors and if possible monitor their activities to ensure maximum returns. Mr Amprofi said the assembly would soon receive its share of the district assemblies' Common Fund for the year that amounted to four billion cedis to be spent on various projects in the district.

The DCE mentioned a number of DANIDA-sponsored projects that had been awarded on contract including construction of a communtiy centre, and a 10-seat water closet toilet facility at Akim Oda.

Mr Amprofi said the government had released 1.6 billion cedis for renovation works at Oda Secondary School as part of its up-grading programme into a model Secondary School.
