The Saint Mary’s Catholic Parish at South Suntreso, as part of its 60th anniversary, has donated a set of chairs valued GH¢ 5000.00 to the Paediatric Cancer Unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
Father Peter Osei Amoateng, Parish Priest of the Catholic Church, said the church recognized the role KATH played in the community, hence the need to support it.
The gesture was in appreciation of the good work being done for the needy, innocent children, who were suffering from cancer, among other diseases of the nervous system.
Father Amoateng said the chairs would help bring comfort to both patients and caretakers at the hospital.
He pledged the church’s continued support for the Unit to boost the morale of staff to give their best in health care delivery
The Parish Priest later outlined other activities in the year-long celebration, such as free health care to the public, donation to the North Suntreso Hospital, Father’s day celebration and games.
Dr Joseph Akpaloo, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of KATH, receiving the items, thanked the benefactors for the kind gesture, and promised to ensure the good use of the items.
He appealed to other well-meaning people to compliment the efforts of government to improve health care delivery.
He said the Unit needed beds to make life for patients safer and comfortable.
