BOPP Manager installed as development chief

Mr Lim Peng Hor , General Manager of Benso Oil Palm Plantation (BOPP ) Limited, has been installed Nkosuohene of Adum Banso, under the stool name Nana Kwamena Kesse.

The chiefs and people of Adum Banso bestowed the honour on him in appreciation of his company’s immense contributions towards the development of the community.

Mr Hor, the 67-year old Malaysian was paraded through the principal streets of the town amid drumming, dancing and jubilation to the brass band music.

Mr Hor, who has 40 years experience in Plantation Management, later swore an oath of allegiance to Nana Kwandoh Brempong, the Third, chief of Adum Banso.

In a citation, the chiefs and people of Adum Banso described the ceremony as unprecedented and urged other companies to emulate the good works of BOPP.

Speaking at the ceremony on behalf of management, Mr Samuel Avaala Estate Manager of BOPP said, Mr Hor had brought a wealth of experience to the management following the take-over from Uniliver Ghana in March 2011 by Wilmar Africa Ltd, a subsidiary of Wilmar International, a globally recognized Agric-Business giant with headquarters in Singapore.

He said as part of its social responsibility, the company had committed about GH¢ 70, 000 to community projects.

He mentioned the 18-kilometre road from Benso to Banso, Benso to Amantin, Dominase to Ayiem and from Manso to Adum Banso and many others as some of the roads the company worked on, adding that a number of bridges and schools were rehabilitated and some drains constructed to create accessibility to and from these communities.

Mr Alex Agyekum, Member of Parliament for Mpohor, commended the management of BOPP for their achievements, and appealed to the government to reduce company taxes to enable companies provide congenial environments for communities.
