Three persons killed in heavy downpour in Ahanta West

A family of three perished in a heavy down pour at Egyam in the Ahanta West District of the Western Region on Wednesday, Mr. Japheth Baidoo, Western Regional Coordinator for the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), told the GNA on Thursday.

He said the incident occurred at dawn on Wednesday at Egyam in the Ahanta West District when the mud house they were sleeping in collapsed on them during the downpour, killing them instantly.

Mr. Baidoo mentioned the deceased as Auntie Essoun, a 63-year-old farmer and her two children, Kweku Badu, 2, and Mary Quaicoe, 7.

He assured the bereaved family that NADMO would assist them with the burial.

The acting Ahanta West Chief Executive, Mr. Joseph Dofoyena, the Regional NADMO Boss, Mr. Japheth Baidoo and the district Coordinator visited the bereaved family to console them.
