Pastor advises orphanage homes to help unearth talents of inmates

Apostle John Kofi Addai, Sunyani area head of the Apostolic Church of Ghana, has entreated owners of orphanage homes to ensure that inmates develop self esteem in their upbringing.

He emphasised that the orphans would grow to become responsible and useful adults in society if they were brought up in a disciplined and lovely environment.

Apostle Addai made the appeal at a New Year party for orphans and other vulnerable children in the Sunyani municipality organised by Beauty in Virginity, an abstinence club in Sunyani on Tuesday.

More than 200 orphans were feted with rice, biscuits and drinks. They were also presented with toys and Christmas gifts.

Apostle Addai explained that orphans like other children were all bequeathed with talents which when nurtured properly could grow to occupy responsible leadership positions both in politics and social life.

He explained that talents inherent in the orphans could be unearthed when they were brought up in an environment of love and charity and appealed to proprietors of the homes to show compassion to inmates and treat them like their own children.

Mrs Theodora Owusu Asubonteng, Founder of the Club explained it worked to promote the wellbeing of the vulnerable.

She said the club organised the party periodically to make the orphans feel happy and part and parcel of society.

Pastor Rockson Mensah Antwi, District Pastor of the Sunyani Assembly ‘C’ of the Apostolic Church noted that the proper upbringing and development of the orphans was a shared responsibility. He advised Christians to be kind and generous to the vulnerable in society.
