Ghana’s Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Paul Tawiah Quaye is scheduled to leave the shores of Ghana today, for La Cote D’Ivoire to attend an ECOWAS meeting of Police and Security Chiefs, to brainstorm how to curb the proliferation of arms, as well as, issues posing danger to the peace and stability of the West Africa sub-region.
The West Africa Police Chiefs Conference, which will come off later this week, according to information gathered from the security outfit of the host nation (Ivory Cost), is to enable the police chiefs to collectively find lasting solution to the emerging piracy on the high seas of the region, trafficking of arms, to collaborate and to pull synergy in order to build the sub-region, devoid of human-made menace.
Mali will also be in focus at the conference following the recent impasse that engulfed that country, this paper’s Ivory Coast sources, have hinted, as the Police Chief brainstorm to restore lasting peace to the area (Mali).
A communiqué to be worked out will be ratified by the Heads of State at a later conference, as the policy document (white paper) towards maintaining peace and security within the West Africa sub-region.
Mr. Paul Tawiah Quaye, according to intelligence picked up, will be accompanied by the Director—General of the Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Mr. Prosper Kwame Agblor.
The Informer wishes the IGP and CID boss well, and pray that once again they bring their in-depth knowledge to bear, as far as security issues are concerned at the conference, so as to keep the banner of Ghana high as they have always exhibited.
