Cape Coast Castle, other monuments, to be closed on Friday in honour of Prez Mills

The Cape Coast Castle and other museums and monuments in the Central and Western Regions, which are usually opened on holidays, would be closed on Friday, August 10, as a sign of respect to the late President John Evans Atta Mills.

Mr. Nicholas Ivor, Head of the Ghana Museums and Monuments Boards (GMMB) for the Central and Western Regions, told the GNA that the closure was also to enable their staffs, who wished to attend the burial service of the President in Accra, to do so.

He however, announced that work would resume on Saturday, August 11, to offer people who are in the country for the funeral but may like to visit tourist attractions, the opportunity to visit.

Asked if the demise of the President had affected the number of tourists to the sites, Mr. Ivor said business was normal, though a number of domestic visitors come dressed in funeral paraphernalia.

He extended his condolence to the bereaved family and the whole nation.**
