Metropolitan, Municipal and District Coordinating Directors have been urged to remain neutral and help bring their expertise to bear on the performance of the assemblies.
Mr. Kwasi Oppong-Fosu, Head of the Local Government Service, said they need to exhibit sound financial and managerial skills to improve the quality of service delivery to the people.
He was speaking at the opening ceremony of a two-day management training workshop for Deputy Coordinating Directors in Kumasi.
It was held under the theme: “Administrative leadership capacity development for efficient local service delivery.”
Attending were 53 participants drawn from across the country and topics discussed included Public service ethics, Values, Accountability and corruption prevention, Local government financial management and Leadership challenges.
Mr. Oppong-Fosu said a lot was expected from them as administrators to inject pace into the socio-economic progress of the communities.
It should not be lost on them the goals of the Local Government Act - to help promote good governance and the participation of the people in the decision-making process.
He said they would now sign performance contract and this would require hard work and dedication to duty.**
