Sekondi Diocese inducts new bishop

Sekondi, Nov 1, GNA - The Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, the Most Rev Prof Emmanuel Kwaku Asante, has said the increasing confusion being created by some pastors was making the ministry of the gospel more challenging now than ever before.

He said most of these ministers of the gospel adopt several titles, dress in gorgeous cassocks and continually divide the ministry of God with their teachings and doctrines.

He said this at the induction of the Right Reverend Edward Ofori Donkor, as the Bishop of the Sekondi Diocese of the Methodist Church at Sekondi on Sunday.

The Most Rev Prof Asante said the ordination of any church leader was not for his personal glory but for the transformation of individuals.

He said the credibility of pastors was now in doubt as many of the ministers of the gospel engage in acts that do not portray Christ The Most Rev Prof. Asante said ministers of the gospel must strengthen the weak, serve as guides for the down trodden and support the total development of the human being.

The Rt. Rev. Donkor was born on January 13, 1952 and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Land Economy, Diploma in Geodetic Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

He is married with five children.
