Police In Tamale Investigate Death of Colleague

The police in Tamale are investigating the murder of a police man on duty post at the Deputy Northern regional Police Commander’s house. Lance Cpl Mensah Kpegloe was found dead at his duty post on the morning of February 15.

The real cause of Lance Cpl Mensah Kpegloe is still to be uncovered but the Northern Regional Police Commander C.O.P Ephraim Oko Brakatu said there was a sign of an attack on the body of the late Lance Cpl Mensah with a deep cut on his head.

On whether Late Cpl Mensah had any ailment before his untimely death, the regional police commander told northernghana.com that he was very fit. “The police man was very fit and strong....he was seen on duty at 01am by the patrol team on duty, the night before his death….he was his usual self and was no way dead as a result of illness” the Regional Police Commander said.

C.O.P Brakatu could not tell whether late Cpl Mensah booked for weapon the night before his death but said the police is investigating to ascertain the real cause of his death, but COP Brakatu suspected a foul play to take over weapon of the late police man. He recounted a statement to the media by Abukari Sumani the Member of Parliament for Tamale North saying some people were amassing weapons in relation to the Dagbon crisis.

“That statement need to be taken serious….who knows….this may be related to the caution by the MP” the police Commander stated. The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Tamale Teaching hospital pending autopsy for the real cause of his death.
