ECG urged to wrap Mfantseman communities under Saltpond office

Ekumfi Immuna (C/R), Jan. 31, GNA - Mr Robert Quainoo-Arthur, Mfantseman District Chief Executive (DCE), has appealed to the management of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to place all communities in the area under its district office at Saltpond. Mr Quainoo-Arthur said the present situation where some of the communities were placed under Ajumako and Winneba was not helping the administration of the District.

"Anytime there is a problem with electricity in those communities we have to go to either Winneba or Ajumako offices of the Company to seek redress instead of going to the district office at Saltpond," the DCE stated.

He made the appeal at Ekumfi Immuna during an inspection tour of on-going projects in the District.

He was commenting on a clinic constructed by the Social Investment Fund (SIF) for the Immuna community over a year ago but could not be used due to unavailability of electric power.

Mr Quainoo-Arthur said all efforts to get the ECG to connect power from the town to the health facility had proved futile. He expressed concern about how the project had been left idle while people travelled long distances to access healthcare services elsewhere. The DCE appealed to utility service providers to do away with bureaucracy in their administration to enable them to render prompt service to their clients.
