Government presents rice, sugar to Muslims in central region

Cape Coast, Oct.13, GNA-The Central Regional Minister, Nana Ato Arthur on Friday joined Muslims at the central mosque at Kotokoraba in prayers for peace and unity in the nation, and later presented quantities of food items to the community on behalf of the government.

The items include 15 bags of rice and ten bags of sugar and 200,000.00 cedis cash.

Similar donations were made at the Al Sunna and the Ahmadiyya mosques at Ewim and Abura, both suburbs of Cape Coast. The items and cash are to support the Muslims in the month-long fast of Ramadan. Nana Arthur used the opportunity to call on all Muslims to tolerate divergent views, from the various sects, as well as live peacefully with all in the society to help promote harmony and development. He echoed calls on them to educate their children to safeguard their future and stressed that education was the only legacy that they could bequeath their children.

They should also contribute their quota towards the accelerated development of the region by working hard and eschewing any negative tendencies that hinder progress.

At the central mosque Sheik Abubakar Hassan, regional chief Imam said special prayers for peace and development in the region and nation. Nana Habib Bright, Abura circuit president of the Ahmadiyya Mission also said special prayers for the President and all those in authority and asked for Allah's guidance and protection for all Ghanaians. Both leaders, expressed gratitude to the government for the donation.
