Rotaract Club of Accra-East launches 10th Anniversary celebration

The Rotaract Club of Accra-East, one of Ghana’s outstanding community service organisation has launched its 10th Anniversary celebration under the theme '10 years of Impacting communities and developing leaders' at MJ Grand Hotel in East Legon, Accra last Saturday.

The special 10th Anniversary celebration launch was held in honor of all Rotaract Club of Accra-East Members, Sponsors and Stakeholders to show the club’s appreciation to them for supporting the club since its charter.

In his welcome remarks, President of the Rotaract Club of Accra-East, Mr. Elisha T. Joseph stated that “As we celebrate our 10th Anniversary, we acknowledge what we have achieved thus far, but we are also looking forward to doing more great things as a club.”

He also expressed gratitude to all Rotary, Rotaract clubs and corporate institutions for contributing to the success of the club and invited all to join in celebrating the years of service and leadership development.

Past District Governor (PDG) of Rotary District 9102, Mr. Jeffrey Afful in his address acknowledged the contributions of club members and congratulated the club for grooming great leaders such as Rotarian Charter President Alpha Odani-Abbey, Past District Rotaract Representative (PDRR) Regina Dzasimatu, Rotarian Emmanuel Deho, PDRR Andrews Ofosuhene and Immediate Past President (PP) Peter Ahiakpor.

PDG Jeffrey who was a former Rotaractor encouraged all Rotaractors that have attained the age 30 years or less to transit to Rotary or take advantage of the dual membership system.

He stated the importance of being a member of the Rotaract Club and the roles of a Rotaract Club in community and leadership development.

PP Elorm Addo, Chairperson of the 10th Anniversary Committee, outlined a number of events for the year and a half - long celebrations including a Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign, Global Hand Washing Day Project, an Empowerment Seminar etc.

The evening highlights included a fundraiser to support the signature project of the club, which is The Hope Project. The Hope Project is the construction of a 3-unit classroom block at Akpafu, a deprived community in the Sefwi Akontombra District located in the Western North Region of Ghana.

There was also a runway modelling show to display some of the souvenirs of the 24 months long anniversary celebrations.

The festive evening included special guests, PDG Jeffrey Afful, PDG Willie Ketekou, Assistant Governor Gertrude Adzo Akpalu; Past Assistant Governors Isaac Animakwah and Florence Maame Hagan. Other dignitaries were Rotarian Ibrahim Wuntah and Rotarian Pamela Baittie; Presidents of the Rotary Club of Accra East and Accra Legon-East respectively, Past President Oscar Moore; Past District 9102 Rotaract Chair and many others.

Rotaract clubs bring together people aged 18-30 years to exchange ideas with leaders in the community, develop leadership and professional skills, and have fun through service.
