Re-denomination education campaign intensifies in Hohoe

Hohoe, June 26, GNA- Four public institutions at the weekend jointly staged a three-hour float through the principal streets of Hohoe to heighten civic awareness on the re-denomination exercise. They were, the Hohoe branch of the Bank of Ghana (BOG) Ladies Association, Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB), the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) and the Information Service Department (ISD). Mrs Samuella Quartey, President of the Association who addressed market women and drivers at the Hohoe main lorry park where the float pulled up, urged the people to deepen their interest in the exercise to avoid being cheated by crooks.

She asked them to avoid middlemen or contractors who are likely to defraud them of their hard earned monies and so they should show interest in the public awareness exercises. Mrs Quartey entreated the general public to be vigilant and not avoid being swindled by fake currency dealers. Mr Cephas Aggor, Hohoe District Officer of ISD said the new currency was user friendly for the visually impaired as it has some features for the blind. Education and conversion materials were also distributed to the public and participants. 26 June 07
