OMA commended for efforts to improve School

Obuasi (Ash), Jan 16, GNA - Mr Solomon Oduro Sabregah, the Headmaster of Christ the King Catholic Secondary School at Obuasi-Akapoliso, has commended the Obuasi Municipal Assembly (OMA) for taking steps to construct a fence wall around the school to help check encroachment and also improve discipline.

He also expressed appreciation for the assembly's commitment to rehabilitate the school's assembly hall.

The assembly, under projects to be financed from its share of mineral royalties, had allocated a total of 400 million cedis for the two projects this year.

The school had earlier in a letter dated July 28, 2006, responded to the Municipal Education Office letter requesting the school to submit its priorities projects for consideration by the assembly under its capital investment plan.

Mr Sabregah, who made the commendation through newsmen, named the projects as the construction of a fence wall, 1,500-capacity assembly hall, hostel facilities for both boys and girls and an administration block.

The headmaster said the construction of staff quarters and a headmaster's bungalow was also submitted.

He said the consideration of the two projects was an indication that the assembly would in phases address all the needs of the school. Mr Sabregah said the municipality had only two public senior secondary schools including that of Obuasi Secondary/Technical School and that it was in line that the assembly was committing funds to improve conditions in the two schools.

He said Christ the King Catholic Secondary School was growing very fast and appealed to the assembly to consider the hostel facilities in the near future.

He gave the assurance that the school would work harder to lift the image of the municipality in terms of results of West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSSCE).
