National Service Scheme donates computers to school

Ho, July 16, GNA - The Ho Municipal National Service Secretariat (NSS) has presented computers and its accessories to Abutia Kloe EP Junior High School to strengthen its ICT Department.

Mr Michael Totimey, the Volta Regional Director of NSS, made the presentation at the launch of the NSS Volta Environmentally Sustainable Programme at Abutia Kloe in the Ho Municipality.

He said as part of NSS social responsibility and mandated by the NSS Act, the regional secretariat of the Scheme was required to identify and adopt a deprived community and collaborate with stakeholders to carry out community development programmes.

"We have attached a lot of importance to the adopted schools and as such our District Directors are expected to use the schools as pivots around which their programmes revolve."

Mr Moses Alorgbey, the Volta Region and the Ho Municipal President of NASPA, appealed to citizens living elsewhere to help their folks back home.

"I hope that in five years about 70 per cent of the schools in the region will have access to ICT centres," he said.

The Headmistress of the school, Madam Charity Doh, commended the NSS and NASPA for providing them with the computers and said the donation would help the students to experience the practical aspect of the ICT programme.
