Jomoro MP gives 2,396 mathematical sets to BECE candidates

The Member of Parliament for Jomoro in the Western Region, Mr. Paul Essien has presented 2,306 mathematical sets to all candidates writing this year's Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the area.

The support which has become a yearly routine forms part of his sole priorities in taking away financial burdens on parents and wholeheartedly showed love and care for the candidates.

Making the presentation, the MP disclosed that Mathematical set is the only basic learning material that contains everything needed by the candidates in all subject area as far as examination is concerned.

The MP who is also the Deputy Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs further cautioned all candidates to be wary of people who may try to lure them to contribute money meant for their upkeep to buy examination papers popularly called ''apor'' and motivated them to work independently.

The Mathematical sets were gladly received by the Municipal Education Director for the area, Mr. Municipal Education Director.

''I do appreciate your efforts and contributions in the field of Education. I am very grateful and of the optimistic that, all seeds sown would yield good fruits'', he said.

He further advised the candidates to be very studious to help project the image of Jomoro.

Speaking to the media after the presentation, the Coordinator for Educational Programmes and Policies of the MP, Emmanuel Amihere who is also the Municipal Training Officer of Jomoro Municipal Education Directorate, admonished that the contributions of the Member of Parliament for Jomoro in raising the standard of education is in line with Chinese adage which says ''Instead of always catching fish to feed a child, rather teach a child how to fish''.

He continued that the best way to prepare a child to be a useful citizen and to fit into society in the future is to give the child a solid foundation in education and he or she would surely make headway.

He, therefore seized the opportunity to advise all 2019 BECE candidates to put the Mathematical sets into good use and never forget the Nana Addo's Free SHS is still awaiting them.
