The Islamic Council for Development and Humanitarian Services (ICODEHS), a Non Governmental Organisation, has presented food items to the Gbi Traditional Council and the Hohoe Zongo Community at a brief ceremony on Friday.
The items, estimated at GH?12,000, were 40 bags of rice, cartons of vegetable oil, tin tomatoes and used clothing and shoes.
Mr. Saeed Mohammed Badar, Financial Secretary of ICODEHS told the Ghana News Agency that the gesture was part of their corporate social responsibility and to respond to the plight of the displaced following communal clashes between the indigenes of Gbi and some Zongo youths resulting in deaths and destruction of property.
He said ICODEHS is an international developmental and humanitarian firm providing services like school infrastructure, sinking wells and hospital equipment.
Togbe Adzofuwusu IV, Chief of Gbi-Atabu and Alhaji Tarjudeen Mairiga of Hohoe Sarki Zongo, received the items on behalf of the community and thanked ICODEHS for the benevolence by responding to the plight of the disadvantaged.
Togbe Adzofuwusu suggested that their portion of the donation be given to the Zongo Community who were displaced after the clashes.
He however received the soft drinks presented to the Traditional Council.**
