Help explain government policies and programmes

Kumasi, Dec 23, GNA - Dr Abdul Nasirudeen, a Pharmacist, has encoura= ged Muslim students to assist in explaining government policies and programme= s to the people. This, he said, would help in deepening their understanding and avoid=

misrepresentation and distortion.

Dr Nasirudeen, who is the proprietor of Marisca Pharmacy in Kumasi, was addressing a two-day annual congress of the Ashanti Regional branch of Gh= ana Muslim Students Association (GMSA). The occasion also coincided with the handing over ceremony of the ne= wly elected executive of the association.

A total of 150 delegates attended the Congress, held under the theme=

"The refined Muslim student, a beacon of hope for the Muslim community." Dr Nasirudeen urged them to study hard to achieve academic excellenc= e and contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of the nati= on. Sheikh Ahmeed Nazir, a lecturer at the Ghana Institute of Languages,=

Kumasi, advised them to be God- fearing, disciplined and lead exemplary lives. Mr Abdul Aziz, the out-going President, said the Association has bee= n organizing free remedial classes for Junior and Senior High School studen= ts in the metropolis to assist them to improve on their grades. The newly elected President, Mr Al Mahadi Muaz, called on all Muslim=

students to join the association.
