Government committed to solving problems of Tumu people

Tumu, (UWR), March 14, GNA - Mr. Kale Caesar, Deputy Upper West Regional Minister, said government was commitment to solving problems facin= g the people of Tumu area, towards development.

He said that even though the area was endowed with natural resources, citing fertile lands, poor roads and lack of schools, health and irrigation facilities prevented the people from harnessing their potentials. Mr. Caesar was speaking at the celebration of the revived "Paari-Gbielle" Festival, at Tumu in the Sissala East District, at the weekend.

He said that government through the Ghana Educational Trust Fund would soon undertake projects at the Kanton Senior High School. Mr. Caesar appealed to the people to take advantage of government educational policies such as School Feeding Programme and send their children to school.

The Deputy Ministry said that government would expand the Youth in Agriculture programme and the Block Farming system to create jobs for young people. Mr. Caesar called on the people support government in order to bring about development to the area.

He noted that culture gave identity to a people and the revival of "Paari-Gbielle" would promote unity and show case their rich cultural v= alues of the people of Sissala and enable the youth to appreciate their tradition and history.

Mr. Caesar commended the Paramount Chief of Tumu Traditional Area, Kuoro Richard Babini Kanton VI and elders of the Tumu Traditional council for reviving the festival.
