German company donates workshop equipment to school

Tema, June 12, GNA - German-based steel company, Risse and Wilke, has donated workshop equipment worth over one billion cedis to the Robert Memorial School in Tema.

The equipment made up of assorted metal work gadgets is to enhance the teaching of technical skills in the school.

The company also funded a four-unit classroom block and donated computers and other data processing devices to the school. The classroom block has been named after Wilheim Wilke, the late father of Dr Kai Wilke, Managing Director of the company. Dr. Wilke said the donation was part of his company's contribution to enhance teaching in the school. He promised further assistance to the school in the areas of infrastructure and information technology. Mrs. Hannah Asare, Proprietress of the school, said the equipment would enhance the school's effort in attaining technical institute status in the near future.

She thanked the donors for their kind gesture and appealed to other agencies, government and non-governmental institutions to support the school.

Rev. Alfred Aidoo, Pastor of New Life Ministries, who facilitated the donation of the equipment, said the metal workshop would help the students, especially those interested in technical skills, to realise their potentials from the basic level.

Robert Memorial School founded 24 years ago with just five pupils currently boasts of a population of more than 500.
