Education will be my major priority - DCE

Akosombo, June 25, GNA - Mr Francis Ahiakpor, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Asuogyaman, on Thursday said education would be one of his major priorities since it is the pivot of development. He therefore gave the assurance that he would rehabilitate all dilapidated educational infrastructure in the district and put up new ones to promote quality teaching and learning. Mr Ahiakpor said this when he paid familiarization visits to three communities namely Sedom, Abome and Osukwao in the area to inspect some school buildings which collapsed as a result of a severe rain storm. At Abome the DCE promised that the Assembly would construct a day care centre to take care of children who are of school going age. He also promised that a place of convenience and electrification project would be provided as requested by the people.

At Sedom the DCE promised to adopt the primary school which is up to primary four to ensure that a better school block is constructed to replace the dilapidated one.

Mr Ahiakpor said all the projects mentioned could only be executed if the assembly had money and, therefore, called on all assembly members to get involved in revenue mobilization by educating their people to honour their tax obligation. He said it was only through the concerted efforts of the people that the development agenda of the district could be realised.
