B/A Receives 19 Information Vans

The Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Mr. Ignatius Baffour Awuah, has warned to deal drastically with drivers of the Information Service Department,(ISD) if they fail to properly maintain their Information Vans.

He said that any officer who fails to properly maintain any government property would be dealt with accordingly.

The regional minister asked the staff of the Information Service Department not use their official vehicles for unofficial activities. “I will personally hold the Regional Information Officer responsible if I see any of the information vans at an unofficial function”, he stressed. He suggested that a reward system should be put in place to reward drivers who take proper care of their vehicles to encourage others to handle government vehicles with care. The Regional Minister was speaking during the presentation of nineteen Information Vans purchased by the Government of Ghana through the Ministry of Information and National Orientation for the Brong Ahafo Region.

Each of the nineteen districts in the region would have one Van. Mr. Baffour Awuah noted that government has the responsibility to let the people know what is going on in government and the nation and for that reason, it sees information as very crucial to the overa national development. He said the vans have been provided to enable personnel of the information service department go down to the grassroots to disseminate information to the people. “A well informed people contribute meaningfully to national development and for that matter, everything possible must be done to inform them about government policies and programmes”, he said. Mr. Baffour said enough education is needed to ensure that the populace understands all about the introduction of the new Ghana cedis which starts circulating in July this year.

Receiving the vans, the Brong Ahafo Regional Information Officer, Mr. Amo Bossman, commended the government for assisting the department with the vans which he said would go a long way to ensure they offer effective services to the nation. He assured the regional minister that the vehicles would be put to good use and properly maintained.

Mr. Bossman commended the government for ensuring that for the first time in the history of the Information Service Department, a single district has more that four vans. Source:
