Defeat wake up call for NPP -Political scientist

A political scientist and senior lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology-KNUST is advising the NPP to consider its defeat at Tuesday?s polls as a wake up call for it to put its house in order for 2008.

Nana Adei Yeboah told Joy News that results of both the Asawase and the Odododiodio by-elections point to the fact that the party?s support has dwindle considerably and this, he argues, must be of great concern to the NPP.

The Asawase constituency by-election held in April, the NDC won by a margin of over 11,000 votes.

The NDC?s Jonathan Tackie Commey won Tuesday?s Odododiodio by-election by a margin of more than 8,306 votes.

Nana Adei Yeboah, told Joy News that the widening margins with which the NDC won both by-elections just a few months after the 2000 polls must be a indicator that all is not well with the NPP.

He however disagree with the NDC leaders who suggest that the party?s victory are pointers to what would have happened in 2008.

? Even though it doesn?t point to a victory for the NDC in 2008, certainly I don?t think it?s a referendum but I think the NPP should take note of the results and do something about it,? he said.

According to Nana Adei some people say the NPP is coming up but it this shows that they are not coming up. They are rather going down.
