Mumuni Sure Of Getting The Needed Votes For NDC

The Member of Parliament for Kumbungu, Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni who has been nominated as running-mate to the NDC flagbearer says, he will bring a lot of humility to partner Prof. John Evans Atta Mills to enable the NDC recapture power in the December elections.

According to Alhaji Mumuni, Prof. Mills has his own programme which is the general programme of the party towards winning the elections and that his nomination does not mean that he (Mumuni) is coming with his own set of agenda.

He told Peace FM today, Friday, September 24, 2004 that, his nomination symbolizes the fact that, there is the need to foster unity and peaceful co-existence in the party. He said the NDC when elected, will not pursue the Private Sector-led policy of the NPP, since it does not take into consideration the plight of the ordinary person.

He stated that the NDC will pursue a fairer and a more equitable social service, which will focus on creating jobs and fighting for the disadvantaged and the vulnerable in society. He emphasized that, the NDC is a party of excellence which has concrete achievements on the ground.

Alhaji Mumuni who is also a legal practitioner said the manner in which the NDC turned the economy around during the PNDC and NDC governments, is a clear manifestation that the party has achieved a lot of success. He stated for instance the negative performance of the economy in the early 70?s, which the P(NDC) government managed to turn around and successfully recorded a single digit figure in inflation.

Alhaji Mumuni was hopeful that, he will bring the needed votes to the NDC, emphasizing that, the day is over for the ruling New Patriotic Party.
