Aspiring MP launches programme

Kumasi, Aug 31, GNA - Mr Kofi Akpaloo, an aspiring independent Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia in Kumasi, has said he would liaise with the security agencies to curb criminal acts in the constituency when elected into parliament.

He said he would also create job opportunities for the numerous unemployed youth in the constituency, most of whom have taken to drugs due to frustration and constituted themselves into gangs and are disturbing the peace of the residents.

Mr Akpaloo said this when he launched his manifesto at the wee-end.

He said he would do everything possible to find jobs for the youth to solve some of their problems when given the mandate.

"If people are gainfully employed, they will not indulge in criminal and immoral acts such as commercial sex which is a major cause of HIV/AIDS in the country".

Mr Akpaloo, the Managing Director of Presdel Group of Companies, said if voted to become the MP for the constituency he would liaise with international and local NGOs for technical and financial support to bring development to the area.

"I will ensure healthy sanitary conditions and environmental cleanliness in the constituency to avoid the outbreak of any epidemic and diseases. I clear Moshie-Zongo and Krofrom, from Subin to Osofo Abodwese of filth."

On education, he said he had already started with the establishment of Presdel schools in some regional capitals and intends to expand it to offer technical and vocational programmes for the youth. Mr Akpaloo said his intention was to help develop the Manhyia constituency and called on the supporters to canvass seriously and effectively to get people to vote massively for him on Election Day.

''God has given me a vision that I alone cannot keep and I would like to share it with people to improve on their standards of living,'' he said.
