PPP Will Participate in Bye-elections

The PPP Will Participate in the Buem and Akatsi South Bye-elections

The Progressive People's Party (PPP) wishes to inform the general public of its decision to participate in the upcoming bye-elections as announced by the Electoral Commission. Our party has placed on record the need for fundamental reforms in the way elections are organized in Ghana and the urgent need to strengthen the institutional framework, human capital and systems of the Electoral Commission. We have written to the EC and requested the opportunity to meet and discuss further the problems our party encountered in the 2012 elections. We are still waiting for the response of the EC.

The PPP will celebrate our one year anniversary on 25 February 2013. As a result of the disciplined and ideas-based campaign we demonstrated in 2012, many Ghanaians have encouraged us to continue building the PPP as an independent alternative to the NDC and the NPP. Our participation in the two bye-elections will give many people who have come to join the PPP since December 7, 2012 the opportunity to help spread the party’s progressive, centrist ideology. We call on all our members, supporters and well-wishers to contribute money, campaign materials and their time to make our participation in these two bye-elections successful. The PPP is undoubtedly, the party of the youth and the future.

The PPP will continue to be an active, vigorous, relentless advocate for electoral reforms in Ghana. Our ability to participate in the 2016 elections will depend on this.
