Mahama’s policies are uninspiring – PNC

The Peoples National Convention, (PNC) has descended heavily on President John Mahama, describing his recent breakfast meeting as uninspiring and media gimmick aimed at swaying attention from pressing issues confronting the nation.

Atik Mohammed, a Policy Analyst of the party speaking on an Accra based radio station intoned that the president's delivery did not meet the expectations of the suffering masses, stressing that it was nothing to write home about.

President Mahama on Tuesday delivered his vision for the next four months, as the nation prepares for general elections in December.

Atik said many Ghanaians had wished the president gave a presentation which would have inspired and restored the hopes of the people, but it instead turned out to be pure media gimmick.

He said: “For me the expectation generated in Ghanaians was that he was going to give us a presentation that will be reassuring, that will be policy focused but unfortunately yesterday listening to the President I felt discouraged and my hopelessness had gone high.”

“... His statement cannot amount to a policy because a policy statement simply stated is a set of goals you have and a clear strategies you have to achieving those goals but for the most parts in his presentation he was lamenting about the inability of government to perform certain things and admitting the weakness of government in doing certain things,” Atik further submitted.

Touching on education, he added that the President in a desperate attempt to associate himself with the concept of free education, stressing that his stance was “a bit hypocritical”.
