NPP Elections: Vote against John Boadu – Group

The Coalition of Asutifi-Asunafo New Patriotic Party (CA-AN) a group of delegates drawn from the Asutifi North, Asutifi South, Asunafo North, and Asunafo South constituencies of the Brong Ahafo Region has urged delegates to vote against the acting General Secretary of the NPP, John Boadu, in the party’s upcoming elections.

According to the group, it is campaigning against John Boadu because by his actions and the conduct of his campaign, has proven the four (4) constituencies within the Asutifi-Asunafo area of Brong-Ahafo should continue in their state of near neglect and myriad of problems.

Furthermore, he’s shown that the constituencies concerned do not need empowerment of any sort, as well as the strengthening of our constituency structures for any election, be it internal or general election.

A statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the group said John Boadu, does not need its endorsement for the position he is gunning for because “the acting General Secretary on Tuesday 8th May 2018, visited the Brong-Ahafo region, while on his campaign tour. Sadly, his campaign EXCLUDED the four (4) Asutifi-Asunafo constituencies. We believed we were going to receive him, discuss the state of the party and our readiness towards the next general elections, share experiences and seek his counsel in matters of relevance to the party. But, that was not to be. Without a word, he left the region after touring some other constituencies.

It added that “according to the communication team of Mr John Boadu’s campaign, the following formed the basis for their coming into the region:

” To assess the current state of the party, particularly the relationship between party and government in every constituency.

“To interact with the constituency executives, together with their MMDCEs, with his message of grassroots empowerment and strengthening of party structures for Victory 2020 and beyond.

This, he said, should be the basis why the discerning delegates of the party should give him a 100% endorsement in his quest to become the party’s substantive General Secretary.

However, the group argues that it “can confidently surmise that, Mr John Boadu and his campaign have failed to honour their word, and have disregarded the pertinent issues clogging party work/activities in this part of the region. We can only thank him for being uncaring and discriminatory in his bid to lead the NPP into Election 2020 as chief scribe. We call on all well-meaning delegates everywhere to show the same level of disregard towards him come 7th July.”

Mr Boadu is seeking the party’s endorsement to be elected the substantive General Secretary during the impending Annual Delegates Conference scheduled for 7th July, in Koforidua, the Eastern regional capital.
