The Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo is hopeful his party would earn more votes in the Volta region in next year’s elections.
The party currently has no seats in the region considered to be the ruling NDC’s stronghold.
But Nana Addo says that trend could change if supporters there work hard enough to get more votes.
“There is one simple statistics that will tell you why we need to close the gap. There are 19 constituencies in Ghana where the gap between the NDC and the NPP is 70 percent and more.
“Eighteen of those 19 constituencies are in the Volta region so if we close that gap even by 10 percent, we win the election of 2016 and then we are in the position to form the government the people of Ghana need,” the former Attorney General told supporters as part of his ‘Arise and Build’ tour in the area.
He is accompanied by his running mate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and a host of other party executives.
Nana Addo is expected to visit Ketu North and South, Ho and Hohoe before leaving the region.
