The newly elected General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) Nii Armah Akomfrah is accusing foreign agents for the inability of the Nkrumahist parties in Ghana to unite.
According to him, despite the fact that some local elements are against the desire of the CPP and PNC to come together to pursue a common agenda, some forces beyond the shores of Ghana are also derailing their efforts.
Speaking to Nii Arday Clegg on the Morning Starr Monday, the former communications director of the CPP said the Nkrumahist parties will strive to come together regardless of the numerous obstacles.
“On the grass root level, we want it. But I think there are forces, not just in this country but internationally who are see such a merger as progress on the Nkrumahist front and perhaps will do anything to frustrate it.
“I am always conscious of these invisible hands working to frustrate us but we have the will and we need to ensure that we become those obstacles,” he stated.
He added that he does not believe that the disagreements the parties have had in their efforts to merge has anything to do with symbols and colours as some have sought to put it.
