Nkoranza (B/A) Sept. 7 GNA - Mr Frimpong Ben-Bella, Deputy Returning Officer assigned by the Electoral Commission for special duties at Nkoranza has advised the electorate against insulting those aspiring to become district assembly and unit committee members on campaign platforms, as offenders could be prosecuted.
He was addressing the electorate at Nkoranza-Kassardjan Electoral Area at a forum organised by the District Electoral Office to enable the aspirants to lay bare their vision for the area's development. The aspiring assembly members are the incumbent Mr Collins Yaw Osei; Mr Ohemeng Baffoe and Mr Kofi Adu.
Mr Ben-Bella called on the people to troop to the polling stations to cast their votes for candidates of their choice, who could lead them to initiate development programmes to improve their living standards. He advised them to vote according to their conscience and not to be influenced in any form to sell their votes to wrong candidates.
Mr Osei said he was seeking re-election so that he could continue to mobilise the people to complete development projects embarked upon. He said during his tenure he secured assistance from the Assembly in the form of 40 low-tension poles towards the extension of electricity to newly developed parts of the Electoral Area.
Mr Baffoe promised to collaborate with opinion leaders and the unit committee to organise the people to participate in communal labour exercises to help develop the area.
Mr Adu said he would encourage house owners to construct toilets in their houses to enhance sanitation and impress on the EC to demarcate the area into two to accelerate development. 7 Sept. 06
